The Villa

Set in the attractive village of Anoyira ( Anogyra ), amidst some of the most stunning countryside the island can offer whilst only 12 minutes from the sea, this exceptional stone built house has been lovingly restored by the owner after 30 years of abandonment, retaining the features and charm of the original 300 year old house whilst adding modern amenities. Set within a very private and secluded garden surrounded by high stone walls offering relaxation and security with access from the street through original old wooden gates. A second access is located from a narrow side street into the dramatic dining hall.

Four of the main internal rooms have traditional stone arches supporting the ceilings with intricately carved bases and the floors are the original flagstones throughout giving a cool atmosphere during the warmer summer days.

The accommodation is on two floors with the ground floor sitting room accessing directly onto the garden through a stunning arched loggia. French windows open directly into the garden from all ground floor rooms. The house sleeps up to 6 people, making it an ideal place for couples sharing and Family get-togethers. The house is available March through to November.

Kitchen

Traditional kitchen with stone worktops and modern appliances. Electric oven, electric and gas hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and food larder for those that want to cook and pick fresh herbs from the garden. The kitchen is adjacent to the dining hall and leading out to the covered patio with a large table, seating 8 by the grape vine trellis. There is also a Gas Barbeque / Oven in the Garden for our Guests.

The Dining / Hall

The Dining hall has a traditional arch supporting the high ceiling with large table below seating 8 to 10, includes a sideboard and wood burning stove for heating during the winter months. The stone staircase leads to a landing with the Main Front Door and the onward to the First Floor

Ground Floor Living Room

Designed in the middle eastern 'Majlis' style with comfortable bench seating with Oriental cushion backs rugs and luxurious armchairs over stone floors under another majestic stone arch. To one side an arch leads you to the Dining Hall and the other side to the Third Bedroom and toilet/shower room. Opposite the seating are French doors leading to the Loggia and garden with Cabinets either side for storage for books, TV, DVD and CD player with Radio Tuner.

Garden Bedroom

A double height room entered from the living room and with double French doors to the Garden and includes a Double Bed, Chest of Drawers, chair and built-in wardrobe leading to the shower/ toilet designed as a room built-in a room with its own ceiling and platform above. Heating is with an electric ceramic wall panel.

Upper Floor

Second Living Room

Internal and external stone staircases provide access to the Second Living Room with its high ceilings supported by the traditional arch with access to an external patio over the arched loggia below with stone columns and traditional metal railings and stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea from Akrotiri bay to Pissouri bay.

The room has 2 large Conran settees, a cabinet with Radio/CD player and another Oriental Cabinet storing the Linen. There is also Desk and Armchair with ADSL broadband connection.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is adjacent to the upper sitting room, again with high ceilings and supporting arch with an en-suite bathroom hidden behind the low wall of the bed headboard. Furnite includes the Double Bed has side tables whilst rugs on the stone floor, armchair and fitted wardrobe. Full size bath and Vanity unit basin and separate WC in its own built in room.

Third Bedroom

The third bedroom lies to the other side of the sitting room again with en-suite bathroom and traditional metal four poster bed, chest of drawers and armchair. The South facing window looks over the Garden. Again a built-in room accommodates the Shower/ WC. Heating is with an electric ceramic wall panel.

HEATING  throughout is with 3 wood burning stoves in the living rooms and dining hall. Ceiling fans are fitted throughout and over the external seating areas.

Garden

The high Walled Garden offers absolute peace, tranquility and total privacy. Entering the gates a wonderful Persian Lilac Tree dominates offering shade, if needed, throughout the day. A vine trellis extends out from the covered patio area leading to the Kitchen. Lemon Trees and a Pomegranate Tree plus Lavender, Rosemary, Oregano and Thyme all grown within the Garden, to be enjoyed at leisure or used in your ‘Mediterranean Cuisine’! The Garden is truly a visual feast but should you just want to ‘Chill’ and relax there are various seating areas with plenty of chairs and loungers to choose from.

Concealed behind an old, original stone built bread oven, an outdoor shower allows you to shower off after a day on the beach!

Guest Access

Free Parking next to the House, Garden, 2 Cots, High Chair, Room Fans in all rooms and external patios, TV, Radio and CD player. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms.

Interaction with Guests

Whenever possible we meet our guests to ensure they are comfortable and explain the house and neighboring environment.  Our information book has all you would need regarding local restaurants and activities.

We ensure the fridge is full of the basic food items such as Milk, eggs, Tea, Coffee, bread and Croissants so that guests can relax on arrival.
